Free Tips & Easy "How to" Instructions

If the idea of slaughtering and eating Bambi's mother is a bit off putting to you but you still have an unquenchable bloodlust that requires you to kill something and then eat it, fishing may be for you. Fishing, for the most part, requires very little in the way of equipment and can be done in almost any body of water from the tiniest stream to the middle of the ocean.
The most common type of fishing requires a rod, a reel, and some kind of bait. Most folks fish from the shore of whatever body of water they are fishing in, but some manage to either use a boat so they can catch different kinds of fish that aren't available by the shore or they strap on those waterproof pants that let you wade out as far as you dare to go so you can be at one with your dinner. Deep sea fishing requires a much heavier rod, reel, and line since some deep sea fish are the size of small automobiles. If you simply want to fish in your local lake or stream, you'll likely need a license first but a basic rod and reel should suffice.

Depending on the type of fish you want to catch, you will have to go at a different time of night or fish in a particular place.
For instance, if you want to catch bass, you are far better off fishing at night or at dawn since that is when the fish are most active. It is also the time when bass fisherman are most active and since they are usually followed by cameramen making a new reality television show, you might want to avoid these folks at all costs. In general, you want to avoid fishing in the middle of a hot summer day. Try fishing at the beginning, end, or during the night if at all possible.

Ice fishing is another form of fishing that many crazy people take part in. In parts of Canada, ice fishing has become such a fine art, technology basically removes any chance of not catching a fish. You can use radar sensors that can see below the ice so you know where to cut your hole and you can drag shelters over the hold in the ice that come with heat, electricity, and even a television. At this point, it is unknown if you are simply setting up a new residence to get away from your screaming spouse or if you are actually fishing. It probably depends on what you catch.
The key part of fishing is patience. Even the best lures need time to attract the fish you want to catch. What makes fishing a bit frustrating is that you can't really have music playing or any kind of distraction because it tends to scare off the fish you are trying to catch. A big part of enjoying a day of fishing is preparation. You need to make sure that there are fish in the body of water you are fishing in, you need to make sure you are legally allowed to fish there, and you need to make sure you are using the right bait, otherwise, no fish is going to clamp on to your hook. Worst case scenario, you spend the day on a quiet lake or stream listening to nature and thinking of an excuse to tell your boss about why you didn't come into work that day.
Fishing is a pastime enjoyed by millions of people all over the world and a good number of people still rely on fishing for their daily nourishment. Make sure you have the proper license and permission to fish before you head out for the day and avoid drinking alcohol while you fish; boating and drinking are never a good combination.
