Free Tips & Easy "How to" Instructions
Some people think that only artistically inclined people can create self-made presents. Wrong!
In fact, for this gift, there is no artistic talent needed whatsoever!
It is perfect as a birthday gift, or a New Year's gift, but any yearly occasion will do.
- 1 large jar (can be a pickles jar, or something similar)
- 365 small sheets of paper
If you already have a large empty jar, then great. If not, buy it, eat all the ingredients (it helps to not be repulsed by the contents) and wash it well.
All the stickers and labels from the jar should be cleaned off as well. It should be a plain empty glass jar.
Keep the lid!
Next you will need 365 small sheets of paper. You can take plain white paper, or colored paper.
You can take standard paper and then cut it into smaller pieces, or buy a stack of paper that already has the right size.
The right size is approximately 8x5cm (3x2 inches).
Now comes the creative part.
Each piece of paper should contain a "magical" message.
The instructions that come with your gift will be something like this:
Whenever you have a question, or you stand in front of a dilemma, you can consult your oracle jar. When asking a question, make sure to ask so, that it can be answered with "Yes" or "No". Open the jar lid, concentrate on your question, then reach inside the jar and take out a single piece of paper. That is the answer to your question. Even if you ask one question every day, there are enough answers in the jar for the whole year!
Now back to you... Imagine that the owner of the oracle jar asks a question, and it is one that can be answered with "Yes" or "No".
You should of course not simply write "Yes" on half the sheets of paper and "No" on the other, but try to be creative. Also keep in mind who the jar is for.
You can integrate your knowledge of this person into the answers.
Here are a few possible answers:
Now, if the future owner of the oracle jar, for example, likes coffee a lot, then you could also write something like this:
Try to implement all your knowledge of the person into the answers.
It will make the oracle jar a hit over and over again, and they will be touched by your observations and comments, as well as the time invested into the present.
Fold each piece of paper twice and place it in the jar. Put the lid on and voilà!
